Explore Sapporo at your own leisure.
Sapporo, located in western Hokkaido is divided up in a grid pattern, and is the largest city in Hokkaido. You may like to visit Odori park where the internationally popular Sapporo Snow Festival attracts viewers every February, Hokkaido Shrine which is thought to be flooded with mystical power, has been protecting the people of Hokkaido since the Meiji Era, this temple receives many visitors each year. Also, make sure you don’t miss the Central Wholesale Market or the Clock Tower.

Day 5Otaru
EActivate your Hokkaido 7 Day Pass at Sapporo JR station and transfer to Otaru. (35mins) You may like to visit the former Hokkaido Bank Head Office, built in 1912. This modern stone building is a popular sightseeing spot in Otaru. Freely walk around the Otaru Canal area, Grand Park Otaru, Tanaka Sake Brewery Kikkogura, or Sakaimachi Street, which is the liveliest tourist attraction in Otaru. Take the Tenguyama Ropeway, and enjoy the landscape from above. The viewpoint from the top is fantastic. You can return to Sapporo on the same day.

Transfer to Kushiro from Sapporo, using your Hokkaido Pass.(4h20m)
Explore Kushiro at leisure.Kushiro, which is well known as "the town of mist" is situated in the southeastern part of Hokkaido, facing the Pacific Ocean. You may like to visit Kushiro Fisherman’s Wharf MOO, which is very popular for both the local people and visitors. You can treat yourself to a gourmet meal or enjoy shopping. There is always a lively, cheerful and welcoming atmosphere.

You may like to visit Kushiro Shitsugen National Park, which is the perfect place to spot the Japanese cranes all year-round. You can board a Norokko train from JR Kushiro Station and enjoy the scenery. Also, you may like to visit Lake Mashu, which is one of the most transparent lakes in the world. It is also known as “Foggy Lake Mashu”, particularly in summer.

Transfer to Abashiri, using your Hokkaido Pass. (3h)
Explore Abashiri at leisure. You may like to visit Koshimizu Gensei-kaen, where about 40 kinds of flowers bloom in spring and summer, lake Saroma, which is separated from the sea by a long, thin sandbar, or Lake Tofutsu, famous for its swans. In winter, the beauty of the town is enriched by the floating ice.

Transfer to Asahikawa using your Hokkaido Pass. (3h)
Explore Biei and Furano at leisure. From Asahikawa, which is the second largest city in Hokkaido, travel to Biei and Furano area by train (Furano line(35m). Biei and Furano celebrates the beauty of its lavender fields every summer.

Transfer to Noboribetsu using your Hokkaido Pass. (2h30m)
Explore Noboribetsu at leisure. You may like to visit Noboribetsu Onsen, whick is the most famous hot spring resort in Hokkaido, well known for the strong smell of sulphur which engulfs the area, giving it the name of jigoku (hell).
